Federal Contractors Required to Use E-verify by September 8, 2009

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) is reminding federal contractors and subcontractors that they will be required to participate in the E-verify program by September 8, 2009.  The E-verify program allows for employers to check the work authorization status of new hires to ensure that no unauthorized individuals are employed.

Additionally, companies who are awarded federal contracts after the September 8, 2009 deadline will have 30 days to comply with the requirement.  For more information, please visit the USCIS website or contact Gafner Law Firm.
